Complete lack of communication between their own staff. Downer & Co office did not know what their negotiators were doing, what the situation of buyers was (despite being told) or what other offers had been made.

They are useless and so stuck up - and for no reason.

We were trying to sell our house at nearly £500,000 in Berkshire and they treated us like idiots and scum. They sent people over and forgot to turn up to do the viewings or the staff they sent to do the viewings turned up late and had no idea of the layout of our 5 bed property. They sent prople over looking for a completely different style of house or even those whose budget maximum was £350,000 and completely wasted our time for over a year. We had to chase them every step of the way.

I would never ever use them again - they failed to sell the house, tried to bully us to reduce the price by over £70,000 even though other houses in our neighbourhood were selling fine. We got rid of them and immidiately got 4 offers within 2 weeks from the next estate agent for the asking price or more. Downer are a waste of space and yet think they are sooo much better than you the client - snotty unhelpful - in summary Useless.

Where do I start? I had to try very hard even to view a property that Downer were marketing. One woman, in particular, was downright rude to both my wife and myself.

At the first viewing, a representative appeared and was quite pleasant, but had no knowledge of the property. At the second viewing, I was told that 6 p.m. was the latest possible viewing, and yet another booking was taken for almost simultaneous viewing at 6.15 pm. The other party were clearly embarrassed, as were we, and as the vendors most certainly were.

After all, we were making a second visit as serious prospective purchasers, and felt insulted. The Downer rep was supercilious, to be charitable.

Different Downer staff gave us diametrically-opposed information about the property on more than one occasion: consistent and truthful information would have been reasonable to expect.

I would NEVER entrust the sale of our property to Downer.
